Rapper, Singer, Producer, and Songwriter PAPA REU started his musical journey on the island of Tobago, [the smaller isle of The Republic of Trinidad & Tobago]. In his formative years, Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Dancehall, and American music genres influenced PAPA REU.
PAPA REU eventually moved to Houston, Texas as a teenager and aligned himself with the local hip-hop music scene. Musical artists Gregory Isaac, Steel Pulse, The Fugees, and Slick Rick are PAPA REU's most noted influences.
HIP-HOP artists, 8Ball and MJG, impressed with REU's unique way of infusing his island style, into the southern hip-hop sound and knowledge of music history, they enlisted PAPA REU to feature on, "Lick 'em Up Shot" which appears on their Hip Hop Classic, "On the Outside Looking In" on the Suave House label.
During the rise of Hip-Hop label, Cash Money Records, PAPA REU earned his early success as a feature on multi-platinum recordings such as 'The Big Tymers' "We Luv Stuntin," Juvenile's "Rich Niggaz," on the "400 Degreez" album, and Lil Wayne's "Not Like Me," on "Tha Block Is Hot."
Representing the Southern mainstream, under-ground music scene, PAPA REU released a total of seven albums through his record label Reu Muzik titled "X-Cuse Me," "Certified," "ReuDBoy" [volumes one and two], "You Know Me" and "Da Original" CD and DVD. Through Sanctuary/BMG, REU released the album, "Life and Music."
PAPA REU has appeared on many singles with mainstream artists Beyonce, Rick Ross, Mannie Fresh, Baby "Birdman" Scarface, Solange Knowles, Paul Wall, Killa Kyleon and many more.
PAPA REU is scheduled to release his new project entitled, "4Reign" soon. His latest single and music video from the album project, "Solo Dolo" is now available on all digital downloading and streaming platforms. "As Long As The Money Right," and "Solid," are singles already released from the 4Reign EP.
PAPA REU exemplifies originality on an international level, painting an undaunted picture of real-life in brave and passionate storytelling through his music. PAPA REU continues to record and collaborate in the heavyweight Hip-Hop arena and remains one of the pioneers of Houston's underground music scene.
